Wins 2009

Sizzle at the Contest of Champions where he made it to the last 8 dogs

2009 Zakmayo Kennel won Top Dog, Top Brood, Top Sire, Top Breeder

2009 really was an astronomical year for Zakmayo.

Top Breeder

Congratualions to all the Zakmayo Mini's which have contributed to us winning the Top Breeder 2009 award

Top Dog, Top Sire

Sizzle continued to shine throughout the year placing him as Top Dog above all other Miniature Schnauzers shown in the UK. He also finished as No 5 in a very strong Utility Group - a remarkable achievement with him beating some of the UK's Top Dogs All Breeds. Sizzle is also proving himself as a valuable stud, with his progeny consistantly winning in the ring which meant that he also took the title of Top Sire.

Top Brood

Gypsy has taken the title of Top Brood Bitch in 2009 due to the success of Merlin (who ended the year as No 2 Miniature Schnauzer behind Sizzle) and Rula, (who although only young has already picked up 1CC).

Northern Schnauzer Club Championship Show

We had the German judge Herr Fertig in for the Northern Schnauzer Club Annual Championship Show. Merlin headed the dog line up after winning Open Dog. He then went onto win the Dog CC and Best of Breed. It was the icing on the cake for Gail Wise when her Merlin daughter 'Brumist Simply Magical' also won the Reserve Bitch CC from the Junior Bitch class at only 13 months old. Lots of smiles on the journey home I suspect!

Midland Counties Championship Show

Mini's were awarded CC's at Midland Counties Championship Show for the first time in many, many years. Sizzle never put a foot wrong to take the Dog CC, BOB and then Group 2 (behind a gorgeous Redwitch Akita). Huge thanks to the breed judge Chris Clay and to the Group Judge Marion Spavin. Another memorable day taking top honours in such good company.

The Miniature Schnauzer Club Championship Show

What a special day the Mini Club Show was. It was their 50th Anniversary, we had Don Elmslie from the infamous Anfield Kennel (Canada) over to judge us and the atmosphere was ecstatic. I couldn't believe the big cheer which went up as Sizzle took the Dog CC and was totally overwhelmed when the Bitch CC was awarded to Rula (Sizzle's daughter). Doing 'the double' at such a prestigious show is amazing beyond belief and to have such support from the ringside was extremely emotional. Sizzle took the BIS, with Rula receiving Res BIS and BOS......WOW!!!

Driffield Championship Show

Our judge at Driffield was Bob Gregory. Sizzle won Open Dog and the Reserve CC. Our friend Ann Reeve had a special day with Can Ch Minuteman Hook, Line and Sinker winning her second CC and BOB. One more to go Hooker.

Darlington Championship Show

Yippee! for Darlington. We can't believe our luck as Sizzle wins another CC, Best of Breed, and Group 1. All fingers and toes were crossed as we returned on the sunday for Best in Show. We were beaten by a gorgeous Wire Fox Terrier but Sizzle strutted his stuff like a true proffesional. It was a special moment when a group of Mini breeders arrived on the sunday to cheer Sizzle on. A big, big Thank You! to all the Sizzle fans which showed their support.

The day was polished off with Can Ch Minuteman Hook, Line and Sinker to Deneens picking up her first bitch CC. Horray for Hooker!

Birmingham Championship Show

Barry Day took centre stage at Birmingham. Sizzle won Open Dog and the Reserve CC. Rula won a strong Open Bitch class.

Welsh Kennel Club

What a fabulous win we had at Welsh Kennel Club. Sizzle won Open Dog, the Dog CC, Best of Breed and Group 2. Rula was beaten to second place by Ann Reeves Can Ch Minuteman Hook, Line and Sinker to Deneens, who went on to win the Reserve CC, this at her first show in the UK - well done Hooker!

Bournemouth Championship Show

At Bournemouth Championship Show Sizzle impressed breed specialist Pat Kidd and won his 12th CC with Best of Breed. He was then shortlisted in the Utility Group under Stuart Mallard. What an absolute star he is.

Paignton Championship Show

All breed judge Maurice Marshall took centre stage at Paignton Championship Show. At just 16 months old and after very few outings, Aoife won her first CC and Best Opposite Sex. We were thrilled with this as she still seems such a baby to us. Many thanks for an unexpected win.

Leeds Championship Show

Sizzle won his 11th CC and then took Best of Breed at Leeds Championship Show. Many thanks to the judge Jean Lanning for for thinking so highly of Sizzle over such good company. Sizzle's progeny also went home with the Ribbons. Jastella Thumbthing Good won Minor Puppy Dog and Rula won Junior Bitch.

Blackpool Championship Show

Merlin had a good day at Blackpool winning Open Dog, the Dog CC and Best of Breed. This means that he is chasing Sizzle for the title of Top Dog, as he is currently running a close second. Many thanks to the judge Andrew Brace for an all important win.

Border Union Championship Show

Again Jackie took the lead for Border Union, in our absence. It was another early morning call for us with the good news that Sizzle had picked up another CC and Best of Breed. This win meant that he currently lies as Top Dog 09 at the half way mark. There is still a long way to go, so no resting on our laurels, however we can't help but be just a little bit proud of our gorgeous boy! Many thanks to Gill Ogburn (judge) and Jackie Hood (handler) for a lovely win.

Three Counties Championship Show

Sizzle had a good day at Three Counties by winning the Open Dog class, the Dog CC and Best of Breed. We were topping up our tans at Great Western Terrier Assoc. so unfortunately missed it. What a thrill to hear the good news (at 3am USA time!) from Jackie Hood (who expertley showed him in our absence). Many thanks to Jackie for doing such a grand job and to the judge Howard Ogden.

Southern Counties Championship Show

Zakmayo had another good day at Southern Counties. Merlin won Open Dog and the Dog CC. The bitch CC and Best of Breed went to a Daisy daughter, Ch Holmsley Our Amazing Grace owned by Maureen and Alec Morris. It proved to be a doubley special day for them as this was her 3rd CC, finishing her title. Many thanks to the judge Johan Joslin (Finland).

Bath Championship Show

What a great start to the summer Bath proved to be for us at Zakmayo. The sun shone putting a spring into Sizzle's step. He won a very strong Open Dog class, the Dog CC, Best of Breed and then topped the day off by winning Group 3. Fabulous! Many thanks to Sue McGran for giving Sizzle BOB and Siguard Wilburg for the Group placement.

Crufts

Crufts 2009 was a day never to forget for Gail Wise and Merlin. Merlin caught the judges eye to win Open Dog, the Dog CC and Best of Breed. Many congratulations to Gail and thanks for flying the Zakmayo flag. Rula also had a good day and walked off (or should I say 'bounced off') with the puppy bitch class and Best Puppy in Breed. Many thanks to the judge Sheena Martin.

What is interesting is that Gypsy is the dam of the Best Puppy in Breed winner at Crufts for the last three years. She is also the dam of Merlin.

Manchester Dog Show Society

Manchester was judged by breed specialist Robert Brown. Sizzle took top honours with BOB and Rula won puppy bitch. Many thanks to Robert Brown for thinking so highly of our dogs.
